I had to do one of the hardest things in my life on Monday afternoon. I had to put Maximus down. He has become increasingly aggressive over the last year, which all came to a head Sunday afternoon while I was in San Jose. He attacked the small dog of the house Willa without cause. This is a scary thing with average size dogs but when the small dog is 95 pounds of muscle and the big dog is 140 pounds of muscle you have a very large problem on your hands. The results could have been much worse than they were, but they were not good by any means. When you lose trust in an animal that could easily take your life or another, you must take action.
There was something wrong with him that just snapped Sunday and he was going to kill Willa and anything else that was in his way. Luckily a neighbor heard the fight a jumped over the 6 foot fence and helped break them apart. He told me it was the scariest thing he has ever seen. Not words you want to hear about your dogs.
I miss my buddy. He was always happy to see you and steal the covers while you sleep but I would not be able to live with myself if he had harmed anyone or anything. It was an hard choice to make but it was the right one.

Doug,
I'm sorry for your loss. It takes a strong person to do what you did.
Take care.
Doug,
I feel for you. Having two dogs of my own (or our own), I can't beilieve how hard that must have been.
Hang in there.
Doug,
Very sorry to hear about this but if there is any comfort to be had it is in the fact that he was loved and treated well and in the end you made the best decision in a very difficult situation.
Again - sorry to hear about this and you did the right thing.
Thanks for the support guys. It is nice to know that I have my Russian family behind me in good and bad times.
I know it's one of the hardest decisions you can ever make Doug, and you certainly did as you had to. I'm so sorry hon that you needed to make the decision at all, but you did do as you needed to.
You gave him a life filled with love and great times, and that's something so precious that cannot be touched by anything.
To Max! He was a great boy.
We are so sorry Doug. We know how much Max meant to you.
I missed the chance to tell you in person! Doug, I'm sorry about this! Never met the dog but I know how much you loved him. I think that your new kettlebell just got it's nickname.
Hey Doug,
I decided to check in and see how things were with you and I saw the news about Maximus. Wow! What a bummer, I'm sorry for your loss my friend. You did what needed to be done, but that doesn't make it any easier I'm sure. Keep the memories of the many good times you had with him, thanks to you, you had a very good life.
Hang in there my friend!
Sorry to hear about that.
